Born in the Maldives, Naushad Waheed began his career as an artist in 1976, and has staged various exhibitions nationwide across Maldives and internationally. Naushad began working professionally as an artist in 1980. Since then, his art pieces have been featured in numerous resorts across the Maldives, as well as on a global scale, most significantly at Chungchun City Sculpture Park in China. Alongside his career as a professional artist, Naushad ran a successful art school in the Maldives, which nurtured and developed many individuals in the Maldivian art scene.

The scope of his work ranges from paintings to sculptures. Naushad has won multiple awards for his work in the fine arts, including the Presidential Award of Maldives in 1997.
